Book Review: Atmosphere By Taylor Jenkins Reid

Every 2 weeks or so we’re reviewing books that we found interesting. These books may range from nonfiction to fantasy to informative to escapism. Our hope is that we find something for everyone, and to broaden awareness, access, and information pertaining to sex, sexual health, pleasure, and beyond!

If you love space and you love love, you’ll love this book!

Taylor Jenkins Reid’s new queer love story is spectacular! Atmosphere is set in the 1980s at NASA and follows Joan Goodwin who joins a cohort of scientists in the space shuttle program. As she trains at the space center, Joan balances her responsibilities to her niece and sister, her own ambitions, and her new relationship.

The narrative of the book is structured across two timepoints and alternates between the intensity of space training and a thrilling present day space mission. This book is a great intro into space reading, but the technical details never outshine the emotional and tender moments of the book.

This book is filled with love, friendship, adventure, and passion! Let us know if you’ve given it a read
