Onsite Training

In line with the online training, every volunteer (both Level One and Level Two) is required to complete three onsite training shifts over the course of eight weeks.

Clinic volunteers: These shifts take place at the respective clinic and are led by the clinic coordinator or the nurse supervisor.

SEX SENSE Line volunteers: These shifts take place at the SEX SENSE Line office located in the Lower Mainland.

Community Relations volunteers: Onsite training will occur through various sensitivity and skill-building workshops in partnership with the Community Relations department. For more information on these, please contact the Community Relations Coordinator.

Why do we need these shifts?

These shifts allow you to meet staff and other volunteers, and to understand their specific roles and responsibilities in the program area they are working in. In addition, the sessions provide the volunteer with the opportunity to review and discuss the material from the online training with their supervisors, and to anchor their new knowledge to the real activities they will be doing.

Orientation period

All additional training and orientation is done onsite. Volunteers are in "orientation stage" for the first three months in a volunteer position and will be working under supervision during that period.
