Working for OPT is not easy. You need strong professional and interpersonal skills and confidence in your abilities in the health field, high standards of work and personal conduct, and a desire to learn as much as you can about sexual and reproductive health.
You may find yourself in a small community running one of our sexual health clinics with minimal supervision and high expectations.
You may be in front of a classroom of young people trusting you to give them straight answers to the sensitive questions they can’t ask their parents or teacher.
You might be working on our SEX SENSE Line well into the evening, the only trustworthy link with a 16-year old who’s pregnant and very scared.
You will face critics — sometimes in your own circle — who don’t support a woman’s right to reproductive choice or a young person’s right to understand his or her sexuality. You will also spend time in the company of some of the best trained and most capable colleagues you will ever encounter.
