The Chair in Improving Youth Sexual Health will establish a research and training program focused on policy and program intervention research related to the health and social impacts of sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies amongst youth. The Chair's formal linkages with the public health system in British Columbia (BC) and beyond will facilitate the application of much needed new knowledge within the intervention planning and research realms. The Chair's training and mentorship initiatives will offer promising public health researchers, practitioners and policy makers (as well as youth themselves) innovative opportunities to effectively integrate a social determinants analytical framework with participatory approaches to intervention research.
