Our Vision

Options for Sexual Health envisions a society that celebrates healthy sexuality, its diversity of expression, and a positive sexual self-image for individuals throughout life.

Chlamydia screening in Whistler, BC

Whistler is a resort community with high numbers of reported cases of Chlamydia infection, and a proportionately large population of transient, at-risk, young adults, who many not access sexual health services effectively.

The project will develop and evaluate a pilot program of outreach screening for Chlamydia infection in Whistler. The program will bundle sexual health education with a contextually appropriate recruitment campaign to offer free Chlamydia testing in non-clinic settings where young people congregate. Tailored screening events will be held to offer Chlamydia screening to individuals who are at-risk, asymptomatic or symptomatic, but not currently accessing clinic-based testing. The project will refine and advance the design of a subsequent full-scale, on-going, community-wide program.
